Joanna has been teaching part-time for 8 years and has developed JMS Music Teaching to be a well-respected teaching practice. She has been awarded the Licentiate from the RAM for Private Teaching, holding also from RAM the BMus (Hons) degree whilst currently studying for her MA (Prep Opera) qualification.
Students regularly achieve high results in ABRSM Grades 1-8, ABRSM Diplomas, GCSE / A-Level Music and have also been accepted into the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and at Music Conservatoires for BMus degree level.
Whether for examination study or for keen interest as a hobby, the lessons are adapted to suit every pupil’s individual need. The main structure of the lessons is for the student to enjoy making music and learn through exploring its wonderful world.
Joanna teaches weekly and lessons are booked on a termly cycle (Spring, Summer and Autumn). At the end of each cycle, each pupil is given the opportunity to perform in a small, intimate concert with fellow pupils and family members invited to enjoy their music.
A friendly, encouraging and caring teacher, Joanna works with all ages, 4 to 84, and loves to work with anyone who has a love of music. Joanna works in both primary and secondary schools, music workshops and educational projects, is a Singing Teacher for Havering Music Services and also serves as musical director for choirs including Brentwood Cathedral Girls Choir and several orchestras.
